TASTING NOTES

This is the first release of our new top of the range Reserve Pinotage. Made from our old block bush wine Pinotage, this wine is as good an impression of our ‘terroir” that you will find. Certified organic this block is good as it gets, with extremely small concentrated berries and low yields.

Handpicked grapes are destemmed and crushed. Bit of cold soak if necessary and a short warm fermentation with lots of punch downs in small, open top fermentation vessels. Total time on skins around 5 – 6 days and immediately pressed when all the sugar is converted to alcohol.

Aged 14 months in small French oak barrels, mostly new. Strict selection of only the best oak for the Reserve.

Very dark, deep, black colour. On the nose good ripeness with lots of toast and oak prominent. Some lavender and wild cherry also evident. Medium bodied with good structure shows some potential. Lovely elegance and freshness with lots of ageing potential. Drink 4 -20 years after harvest.
