This wine is made with grapes from low yielding, unirrigated vineyards grown on the slopes of the Simonsberg in Stellenbosch - widely regarded as one of the best ”terroirs” for modern Cabernet Sauvignon based blends. It is a medium bodied wine, showing individual varietal characters of the various components adding in the complexity and enjoyability. Good nose with hints of blackcurrant, young leather and hints of red berries. Elegant tannins with a good vibrant and fresh mouth feel are well supported by gentle ”French oak” characters. Cabernet Sauvignon giving good dry, almost ”dusty”, tannins with Merlot adding richness and a suppleness. Petit Verdot adds colour and aromatics with the Cabernet Franc adding some enjoying elegance. This wine is drinking well now, but will definitely improve with some further bottle maturation. Drink 2 - 6 years after the vintage.
